What we collect

When you sign up and write, BECOME collects your name, email, and journal entries. We also automatically track basic usage data through PostHog analytics to help us understand how to improve the app.

How your data is used

Your journal entries are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate AI reflections, patterns, strengths, and your Inner Compass — this is essential to how BECOME works. Entries are stored securely in Supabase so you can access them anytime. Usage analytics help us improve features over time.

How Claude handles your words

Think of it like handing a note to someone who reads it, responds thoughtfully, and forgets it. When you write an entry, it is sent to Claude to generate a reflection — and that is all. Claude does not store your words, does not remember them between sessions, and does not use them to train AI models.

The same applies to Patterns, Strengths, and your Inner Compass: your entries are sent to Claude to process and generate insights, the result is saved back into your private BECOME account, and Claude retains nothing. The only permanent copy of your writing lives in your account — and only you can access it.

Anthropic (the company behind Claude) applies a zero data retention policy for API use. Your entries are not used to train any AI model, by Anthropic or by us.

What we will never do

We do not sell your data. Ever. We do not use your entries to train AI models. Your writing is not shared with anyone beyond the services listed below.

Your control

You can access all your entries at any time. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data — we'll remove everything within 30 days. You can also request a complete copy of your data. Reach us at hello@becomeme.app and we'll respond within 30 days.

A note on admin access

As with any app, the BECOME team has administrative access to the database that stores your entries. We want to be honest about that. We will never read your journal entries unless required to do so by law. Your words are yours — we treat that as a commitment, not just a policy.

Security

All data travels encrypted via HTTPS. Row-level security means only you can access your entries. Google handles authentication — we never store your password.

Third-party services

Only five external services access your data: Supabase (storage), Anthropic (AI reflections), Google (sign-in), PostHog (analytics), and Resend (email reminders). No one else.

A note on age

BECOME is not designed for users under 18.

Governing law

This policy follows Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
